AL-YASS 2026 took place May 16th-17th, 2026 at Camp McDowell. Throughout Spring 2026, the AL-YASS leadership of the STEMMing the Tide and the University of West Alabama Black Belt STEM Education Institute hosted a series of AMSTI/TEAMS-approved Teacher Professional Development events, “Classroom Solutions: From Grants to Gadgets” – for over 50 teachers. Teachers then supported their students to conduct environmental science projects to present at AL-YASS as a culminating expereince. 69 students attended from 9 schools, along with 25 teachers, and 43 other adults, including workshop hosts, panelists, and volunteers.
